So if you haven't noticed, I have a counter on the bottom of the page. I've set it up so it doesn't count my computers that I post on so it counts all official views. However, it seems that the number that Google Analytics has for me is a bit lower than the counter. According to Google I only have a little over 9000 views meaning that the counter has been fooled by search bots or other various bots.
Nevertheless, I am still really happy to have so many views, in fact there is a possibility that I will getting a little bit of money from displaying ads and I will invest some of that into a domain name. If everything falls in place, I will be buying a domain name so the blogspot.com suffix will not be needed. This has been in the works for a while, but I wanted to make sure I could make the investment.
Other than this, I have been looking for internships (preferably paid) for website design, but that has not been terribly successful. The one company that I applied to decided to not hire me at this time, but I will be trying again once I get my degree.
When people are looking for jobs, a problem they tend to have is building a resume. They don't know what they should and shouldn't have and what format it should be in. As a faux public service announcement, I have an infographic that can help you modernize a resume.
From this infographic, I probably would not suggest adding a picture to it. I personally would find it rather strange if a picture was added to a resume, unless I was hiring for a modeling agency. This infographic does not tell you how to format your resume, but it does provide the building blocks you will need to start one. I do have a few suggestions to add.
1. If you are in college, you probably can remove most of your high school information unless it is prevalent to the company you are applying for.
2. Adding what classes you are in may not always be relevant, but it can be a conversation point and show an employer what kinds of things you are learning and can apply to the job.
3. Update your resume often. It can never hurt to have fresh information in case you need it in a moment's notice.
4. PUT YOUR RESUME IN A CLOUD-BASED LOCATION!!! I cannot stress this point enough. Most companies that you talk with at job fairs or in impromptu conversations will have some form of technology on them. By putting your resume on something like
DropBox (Free App and Downloads) you can access your resume from anywhere there is a computer.
Have a great day!
